Ground Beef Jerky

This is such a great snack on the road. What better way than to make jerky right at home?

Length of time from start to finish: 3 hours
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
  • 2 lbs 97/3 ground beef
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp dark brown sugar

Instructions:

-Let’s start off by marinating the meat first. In a bowl combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and dark brown sugar and combine thoroughly.

-Now preheat your smoker to 170 degrees. I used the jerky gun from avid armor.

-Place the ground beef in the jerky gun and make 6-8 inch long strips. Place in the smoker and leave in there for 2.5-3 hours.

-After 2.5 hours, see if the jerky bends and if it bends it’s done.  Make sure it won’t break in the middle, if it does it’s overcooked.

You can baste it with teriyaki sauce 30 min before removing it. This will add more flavor. You can also do this in your oven at the same temperature.
