This one is very satisfying for dinner! It really fills you up. The cheesy mashed potatoes are a must-try. You can never go wrong with steak and potatoes.
Length of time from start to finish:1 hour
Difficulty: Medium
Ingredients:
- 1 20z porterhouse
- 1 head of garlic
- 4 medium russet potatoes (washed and peeled)
- 1 cup cheese (I like to use chihuahua melting cheese)
- 3/4 stick butter (salted)
- 1/4 cup milk
- Green onions to garnish
Instructions:
-Preheat your grill to 350 degrees and then prep your garlic by cutting where the root is about 1/4 inch.
-Then add olive oil and a pinch of salt to season, wrap it tightly in foil. Place it on the grill while you peel and cut your potatoes. Then comes the steak! Season the steak with your favorite steak seasoning, then place it on the grill, grill it up until your preferred donees. If you are cooking direct heat, do flip the steak every 2 min, this way it won’t burn on one side.
While the steak is on the grill, boil your potatoes on medium-high heat until fork-tender. I check them about 7 min in and see if a fork goes in and out like butter.
– I removed the steak once it hit an internal temperature of 120 degrees, the carry-over heat took it to 135 while resting it for 10 min. While your steak is resting, drain the water from the potatoes, then add butter, milk and smash until smooth, then add your cheese, last add salt to taste. I garnished with some finely sliced green onions.
