Smash burgers are so easy to make and very flavorful! I like to keep it very simple.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb 80/20 ground chuck (regular beef works as well)
- 1 medium red onion ( cut into 1/4 inch slices)
- 2 jalapeƱos sliced
- 4 slices pepper Jack cheese
- 4 brioche hamburger buns
- 2 spatulas or a hamburger press
Instructions:
-You want to start off by prepping your veggies, once you slice your onions and jalapeƱos set aside. You might want to use gloves for your jalapeƱos, this way you donāt accidentally rub your eyes and have a bad night.
-After, make 2oz meatballs out of a pound of ground beef. You want to make 8 of those.
-After that, preheat your griddle on high, first lay down your onions and jalapeƱos get them nice and soft, give them about 1 min per side, after remove and set aside, then place your meatballs on the griddle and press down with 2 spatulas to get the patties formed. You want them very thin. Season with salt. Once you see the top of the meat get watery then flip. This takes about 1.5-2min.
-Then season that side as well. After 1 min passed add the cheese and let melt. Then pile two parties together. Remove from
-Heat after another 2 min. Toast your buns. I like to use mayonnaise for this. Then itās time to build, you can add mustard and ketchup if you like. I just added extra mayo on the buns, then the meat, followed by onions and jalapeƱos.
Length of time from start to finish: 45 min
Difficulty: Easy
I cooked everything on my griddle, you can do this on a pan or skillet as well. Do season your onions and jalapeƱos once you remove them, just a pinch of salt will do.
