Grilled Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Difficulty: Easy
Total Time 1 hour
Course Main Course
Cuisine American
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 2.5lbs beef (sirloin or ribeye)
  • Shredded/sliced cheddar cheese
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 3 Italian rolls
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • Salt, pepper and garlic powder
  • Butter for the rolls

Instructions

  • First, start by prepping your ingredients. Cut the beef into thin slices, against the grain. Slice the onion and bell peppers.
  • Preheat a large skillet/ flat top over medium-high heat.
  • While the skillet is heating up, take your Italian rolls and butter them on the inside. Place them in a separate pan and toast them until golden brown.
  • Once the skillet is hot, add the sliced onions and cook them until they are translucent. Once they are cooked, remove them from the skillet and set them aside.
  • Add the sliced beef to the skillet and season it with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook the beef for about 3 minutes or until it has a nice sear.
  • Once the beef has seared, add the sliced bell peppers, continue cooking for another 2 minutes.
  • Once the beef, onions and bell peppers are cooked, combine them in the skillet and divide the mixture into 3 equal piles.
  • Add 3 slices of cheddar cheese/ shredded cheddar to each pile and cook until the cheese is melted.
  • Once the cheese is melted, take one of the toasted Italian rolls and scoop the beef mixture onto it. Repeat this step with the remaining rolls.
  • Let the sandwiches cool for 3 minutes before serving. This will allow the cheese to set and the flavors to meld together.
  • Cut the sandwiches in half and serve. You can also add some extra toppings like lettuce, tomato, or mayo if desired.
